Widgets aren't the most efficient applications - they are memory-hungry, javascript-based and all that. But one great thing about them is that they're inherently hackable - all the source is right there for you to play with. This is especially useful since widgets often have unique appearances, and unique is not necessarily good.

The IceTV widget is one such widget - quite useful, but the dark gloss is particularly overdone, making it really difficult to read. I got to the task of making it a bit easier on the eyes, and a little while later I have my own modified skin for it (as well as changing a bit of the functionality). Nothing groundbreaking, but it's so nice to be able to easily make small changes like this...
