It's Over!

go crazy thumbnail

Well, that was an interesting 16 years of education. As of Friday, I finished my final year of uni. Off to work in the real world next year...

On Friday night we did a bit of fire twirling, and I took some photos. This one was taken as I ran like a madman in the dark right up to the twirler, starting from a distance. Perhaps not the safest of ideas ;)
It turned out quite unique, so I played with the colours a little and here it is...

Whoa, it's...

Little planet photo

New Stuff™ - my favourite kind of stuff! The first being this crazy image you see on the right. Feel free to click it, and you shall see it all big and such...

Sadly, I can claim no credit for the technique. I got it from this Photojojo tutorial, I really just supplied my own panorama. It's a pity the middle bit looks kinda weird, but I don't think there's much I can do about that easily.

I also made a silly stop-motion thingie of my hair. It is a bit weird.

If you're feeling bored, you should check out my low-volume shared items stream. When I see a cool post in any of my RSS feeds, I just press a button and it goes there. How magical! I recommend you use the RSS feed though, as the HTML version tends to crop the images a bit.

According to a friend, "Currying is a tad pretentious". I find that thought amusing. If you don't know what currying is, never mind. It's really not worth it for the sake of that comment ;)

More Google Reader Tweaks

Posted Wednesday, November 15, 2006

I just tried out this style to maximise the viewing area of Google Reader. I liked it, but found it a bit too agressive - it changed parts of the reader that I quite like (such as the channel headings and the user links), and changed a few things (fonts, link underlining) that had nothing to do with increasing the viewing area.

So I've made my own version of the script, which keeps things looking much the same as Google's design but still frees up some more room for reading items. Mouseover the image on the right to see the difference between my version and the original layout. It may not look like much extra space, but I find it really helps.

To install the script, add the following code to your userContent.css file (in your profile directory):

@-moz-document url-prefix("http://www.google.com/reader/view/"){ #logo-container, #footer, #viewer-box .s, #chrome-footer-container, #view-cards .s, #view-list .s, #message-area-outer .s, #all-subscriptions-header { display:none !important; visibility:hidden !important; margin:0px !important; padding:0px !important; border:0px !important; } #viewer-controls{ position:relative; top:19px; } #viewer-controls table{ position:relative; top:3px; } #entries{ padding-left:0;margin-left:0;width:110%; } #message-area-outer .c{ padding:0; -moz-border-radius:8px !important; position:relative; display:block; width:400px; height:1.4em; bottom:22px; left:10px; z-index:5000; text-align:center; } #message-area-inner{ position:relative; top:1px; } #main{ margin:0px !important; padding:0px !important; margin-top:4px !important; border:0px !important; } #nav{ margin-right:2px !important; } #selectors-box{ margin-top:3px !important; } #viewer-header *{ text-decoration:none !important; } }

Oh yeah, and this version doesn't break the functionality of the "u" shortcut key (which hides the subscription list), which the original style does.

If you use google reader, you should really try my previous google reader mod :)

Free Mac Apps

Posted Monday, November 13, 2006

Not sure how many of you have macs, but MacAppADay is planning to give away 5,000 copies of a popular mac apps (no idea which ones) every day throughout December. Seems like a good deal to me, and if you help them out by blogging about it you get to find out which apps are coming in advance.

So bookmark www.macappaday.com, sit back and wait for December :)
